We will start our summit by connecting in community and coming together as practitioners, activists, aspiring allies, and friends to advance and actualize equity and justice in our work places and spaces. Kevin Carter will lead us in a mindfulness exercise to help ground and center us in this experience.
Then join Winters Group, Inc. Founder and CEO, Mary-Frances Winters, for her keynote address as she lifts up the trends, tragedies, and triumphs we face in the current social and political climate in the post-George Floyd era. The political polarization and lies, the increasing power of the far right, antisemitism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, combined with the direct attacks on our work - such as Florida spearheading the STOP WOKE Act and banning AP Black History are compounding the fatigue and the stress of this work. Despite these challenges and a possible recession, trends like quiet quitting, hybrid work, confirmation of Black judges and increasing numbers of BIPOC ascending to positions of power are collectively demanding our workplaces become more just and inclusive. Join us to reflect on the state of DEIJ today, define what justice means in the workplace, and explore how we can work together to actualize solutions to systemic injustice.
