Description

Realizing racial justice is often framed as unrealistic. Entrenchment of oppressive systems, concerns of “readiness” of those in positions of power to embrace change, and other narratives amplified by media, institutions, and individuals in power continue to drive this perception. In fact, such “defeatism” is a product of white supremacy functioning as it is intended—to prevent imagination and progress toward correcting harm. We must commit to critical consumption of these narratives, interrogating whose interests they serve, and how they harm us all. Contrary to what dominant narratives might have us believe, real solutions to persistent injustices are in reach, and possibility models for realizing justice continue to emerge. Seeking these examples out, amplifying them, and iterating upon them in service of continual progress is critical, and will support us in collectively working toward a more just and equitable future.  Join Leigh Morrison as she explores perceptions of racial justice in the workplace and why thriving organizations rely upon thriving employees.
