Description

What we watch on Netflix, who we see in our social media feeds, whose resume gets pushed to the next round, even how long a prison sentence should be are now largely controlled by algorithms, a form of artificial intelligence (AI). As technology continues to play a larger role in our daily lives, our thinking has started to merge with the technology’s and we give a pass to more subtle forms of discrimination. This session will introduce the ways we are upholding and reinforcing systemic oppression through the technology we touch every day. Join Megan Ellinghausen to explore the relational power of technology and be challenged to consider actions that center those most impacted, put justice ahead of profit, and prioritize equity over efficiency.
