What we watch on Netflix, who we see in our social media feeds, whose resume gets pushed to the next round, even how long a prison sentence should be are now largely controlled by algorithms, a form of artificial intelligence (AI). As technology continues to play a larger role in our daily lives, our thinking has started to merge with the technology’s and we give a pass to more subtle forms of discrimination. This session will introduce the ways we are upholding and reinforcing systemic oppression through the technology we touch every day.
