Maileen Hamto, EdD, MS, MBA, has more than 20 years’ experience in strategic communications and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) leadership. Working in the nonprofit, healthcare, higher education, and technology sectors, she is an experienced project leader in qualitative research, environmental assessment, program evaluation, communications strategy development, instructional design, action planning, and program implementation. She is well-versed in processes involved in survey design and deployment, focus group facilitation, key stakeholder interviews, as well as data analysis and synthesis. In addition, Maileen has designed and facilitated workshops on diversity-focused topics, including diversity leadership essentials and applying an equity lens in decision-making. As part of a technology trade association, she organized the DEI Center of Excellence Thought Leadership Series, which is focused on sharing best practices for advancing antiracism in the technology ecosystem. Her current portfolio of equity and inclusion consulting projects includes coaching and strategic planning guidance for a board of directors, Executive MBA students, and nonprofit executives. Maileen earned her doctoral degree from the University of Colorado Denver, where she focused her research on how DEI leaders advance racial equity in the workplace. She holds an MS degree in Healthcare Management from Oregon Health & Science University. She has an MBA from the University of Portland.
