CaTyra Polland, M.A. is the founder and CEO of Love for Words (an MWBE editing and copywriting company). Through Love for Words, CaTyra serves as a guide and mentor to each client.
She is an award-winning entrepreneur, freelance editor, creator, poet, and international speaker. CaTyra has been recognized for her ambition, community service, and literary expertise. She has received the following awards and honors:
· 2023 ATHENA International Finalist;
· 2023 Rochester Business Journal Elevating Women Honoree;
· 2023 Cystic Fibrosis Rochester’s Finest Honoree;
· 2022 ACES Richard S. Holden Fellow;
· 2018 Rochester Business Journal 40 Under 40 Honoree;
· 2015 National Point of Light Honoree.
CaTyra created the Literacy Love Scholarship for high school students in Rochester, NY. She is also the hostess of Editor Knows Best, an international podcast for literary creatives. Last but not least, CaTyra founded National Black Authors Day (May 4), and she mentors up-and-coming editors.
She volunteers her time with several organizations and initiatives including:
· Grant Reviewer, Genesee Valley Council on the Arts;
· Chairwoman, Innova Girls Academy, the first and only all-girls elementary school;
· Grant Writer, Rochester Black Authors Association.
In her free time, she enjoys thrift shopping, traveling, hosting events, and visiting museums. CaTyra’s mission is to promote literacy, empower others, and see her wildest dreams come to fruition.
