Description
Key moments in our history have reinforced ideologies that have strived to disconnect us from ourselves, our bodies, spirit, and each other. These small/big moments over time become culture and the water we are swimming in without knowing it. The results being that many of us are disembodied, dysregulated, and disconnected from natural world. Our mental, spiritual and physical health suffer, as well as our nuanced capacity to be with the full range of messy and beautiful parts of ourselves/others. We have limited capacity for, and often judgments of, all the diversity within us as well as others. We’ll explore this “disconnect of mind-body-spirit” water we are swimming in using a 4-I’s model of ideologies, institutional, internalized, and interpersonal; and use the lens of racism and/or sexism as they relate to learned ways of sacrificing our needs in a burnout culture world. We’ll end with strategizing ways to interrupt these learned patterns and a centering practice time-permitting.
