The structure supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) leaders tends to be minimal in most organizations. DEI committees are often the only dedicated resource made available to us, and it is not uncommon for them to be comprised of passionate volunteers. But the work of advancing toward equity in our organizations requires – and deserves – more than passion. There are too many people counting on us to make change and the gravity of the work we do is too heavy to be left up to chance. The outcomes we must achieve require skills, savvy, and expertise. In this session, we will articulate the superpowers, including both relevant professional experience and critical competencies and skills, that make DEI committees impactful and how we can use them to vet interested individuals.
