In the best of times, diversity, inclusion, and equity (DEI) practitioners face a range of challenges often shaped by cultural, political, and economic factors. In today’s climate of social and cultural polarization, these challenges have been magnified. A lot of attention has been paid to the anti-DEI movement in the United States, but is the impact limited to the US? What can global practitioners do to shape a better narrative and not perpetuate the “DEI died” myth? What can we learn from dealing with political pushback against DEI in other parts of the world. In this moderated conversation, with DEI and social justice practitioners from Canada, the UK, Poland, Germany and other regions, they will share their experiences and strategies of how we can all work together to respond to the backlash and paving a way forward.
