Speaker Bio
Returning as Emcee for the second consecutive year at The Winters Group Justice for All Summit, Monique Jarvis is a transformative leader and evocative 2Spirit Afro-Indigenous (Tuscarora) artist recognized for her visionary synthesis of creative youth development, nonprofit strategy, philanthropic innovation, and racial justice advocacy. With over two decades of progressive leadership, Monique designs innovative philanthropic initiatives and culturally responsive programs that empower youth, foster cross-sector collaboration, and drive systemic equity. Identifying a critical need for structural equity in the nonprofit sector, Monique undertook long-term advanced training in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ), subsequently designing inclusive learning labs, leading comprehensive organizational equity assessments, and facilitating statewide social justice workshops to ignite measurable and enduring transformation across nonprofit ecosystems. Driven by her belief in art as a powerful catalyst for community healing, Monique has facilitated creative writing workshops and arts residencies within maximum-security prisons, youth alternative incarceration centers, and juvenile detention facilities, actively disrupting the School-to-Prison pipeline. As a creative strategist specializing in inclusive leadership, corporate partnerships, and board governance, Monique empowers organizations to cultivate sustainable community investments and amplify historically underrepresented voices. Her innovative arts-integrated curricula—grounded in intersectional historical narratives—earned national recognition and prestigious grant awards during her tenure at a leading New York City nonprofit. Monique’s editorial leadership began as Managing Editor for Southern New England’s then-largest African American newspaper, where she created mentorship initiatives opening pathways for college-bound youth into professional journalism. This experience inspired her co-founding of a prominent performance arts venue in Connecticut—a cultural hub for advocacy, activism, and creative commentary that incubated talent onto national stages and inspired similar venues nationwide. As a published Spok’n Truth Artist, former National Slam Poet, and Jazz and Blues vocalist, Monique has performed at esteemed venues including Yale University, UMass Amherst, Vermont Law School, and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, sharing stages with notable artists such as First Nations trio Ulali and poet Ursula Rucker.  Monique is currently advancing her legacy through The Radical Arts Project, a forthcoming multidisciplinary consultancy delivering equity-centered, arts-integrated professional development for educators, culturally responsive curricula, and expertise in cultivating strategic cross-sector philanthropic partnerships. Monique holds a Master’s degree in Human Services from Lincoln University, grounding her leadership frameworks in Structured Thinking, Systems Theory, Social Policy, and Counseling Psychology. She is a certified Engaging in Bold, Inclusive Conversations® Facilitator through The Winters Group, reinforcing her capacity to lead transformative dialogues on racial equity, inclusion, and lasting systemic change. Ultimately, Monique Jarvis envisions—and actively cultivates—a world in which educational equity, arts-driven empowerment, and racial justice transcend aspiration to become lived realities.
