Most good, intentional people who believe in DEIBJ support this work through a lens of "humanity." They believe we are all equal and have equal opportunities and are often not aware of the inequities in our systems. They are more focused on the intent rather than the impact of their support and work. Racial justice work requires us to acknowledge our intent, understand, and take responsibility for the impact. We cannot keep doing this work through a lens of equality; real change requires real conversations, and real conversations require the awareness of our lenses and behaviors within a system.
