The products we buy in stores and our experiences shopping for them are shaped by a vast retail industry that represents one of the most diverse workforces. With many workers of color and other marginalized groups still reeling from the instability of the pandemic, intentional efforts are needed to ensure those with marginalized identities in the retail industry are supported and feel that they belong. In this session, panelists from different retail sectors discuss the setbacks and innovations they’ve experienced when it comes to DEI and retail, from making space for authentic self-expression to ensuring key business decisions center the workers and customers most impacted by racism, sexism, ableism, and other forms of discrimination.
Panel moderator: Kimberly Lee Minor, CEO, WOC Retail Alliance
