Over the past several years, health professions have witnessed an unprecedented level of digitization. Less often discussed are the risks that these technologies pose. Thus, there have been few efforts to address health equity within algorithmic tools in health care. That is the crux of TechQuity — we reframe the common discourse around technology to focus on how it can effect equitable outcomes for all of us, instead of marketing hype that drives financial returns for a select few. In this presentation, we will deconstruct common ways of thinking about technology and understand how technology can often exacerbate health inequities — and what we each can do about it.
