Speaker Bio
I’m Rochelle Younan-Montgomery, a DEIJ expert, author, certified yoga teacher, facilitator and trainer who has been leading teams and building content for over 15 years.
My mission is to guide teams and individuals back to what matters most: alignment with their values and purpose.
My clients understand the importance of aligning stated values with real-world impact in an increasingly tumultuous global context.
Along with owning and operating The Reset, LLC (https://www.rochelleym.com/), I am a faculty member for The Winters Group, Inc.’s emPOWERment Institute™, a leadership certification program for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color). Prior to this role, I served as the Director of College Access with College Possible, where I led a team of staff to create more equitable outcomes for low-income students of color.
I got my start with DEIJ as a community organizer fighting for environmental justice and empowering students to use their voice to shift power and enact change. I spoke at high school assemblies, reaching over 90,000 students with an award-winning climate science presentation over the span of six years (looking for an engaging speaker? I’m your girl). I have since facilitated hundreds of workshops and keynotes, large and small, centering on DEIJ, mindfulness, empathy and leadership development.
I am a contributing author in Racial Justice at Work: Practical Solutions for Systemic Change (February, 2023) with my chapter Accountability through Restorative Dialogue.
I am a global adventure seeker, having lived in South Korea teaching English, and traveled throughout India, Mozambique, Italy, parts of Latin America, and the Middle East.
As a graduate of Azusa Pacific University, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and I am also a certified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®). I am also a YWCA Racial Justice Facilitator and certified in Somatic Abolitionism through the teachings of Resmaa Menakem. I am a certified yoga teacher and utilize healing modalities like breath work, guided meditation and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in my facilitation.
A few of the identities I hold: I am a queer, cisgender, able-bodied, biracial Egyptian and white woman, mother of two daughters, sister, partner, global wanderer, and lover of the natural world. I am a first-generation college graduate and daughter of an Egyptian immigrant. I also identify as a lover of any cuisine that includes spicy pickled delicacies.
I reside in South Minneapolis, on Dakhóta Land, with my partner and two daughters.
