Sadye L. Campoamor is an El Salvadoran born and NYC bred - proud public servant, community organizer, facilitator, policy expert and public-school parent. As Chief Equity Officer for the NYC Comptroller Brad Lander, Sadye works closely with teams across the Agency to bring an equity lens to every bureau. She is charged with partnering with external stakeholders as well as aligning the Office’s core functions & responsibilities with its equity agenda. She founded and facilitates the NYC Comptroller’s Equity Council, most recently she was appointed by Comptroller Lander to serve as a Commissioner, representing the office on the NYC Commission of Racial Equity.
Prior to joining the leadership team at the NYC Comptroller’s Office Sadye served as the Executive Director for Family and Community Empowerment at the New York City Department of Education. Sadye believes that when institutionally marginalized individuals and communities are at the center of public policy making that all New Yorkers benefit.
Sadye began her career as an after-school teacher and teaching artist in Harlem. She worked with former Mayor Bill de Blasio's team since 2009 and in January 2014 joined the NYC Department of Education where she served for 8 years in various roles. She’s particularly proud of the hundreds of community conversations she’s facilitated on public school transformation, school integration and racial equity.
She graduated from Oberlin College & lives in Manhattan with her family.
